
Melvin, alongside Rickie Haywood- Williams are the hosts of Kiss 100’s Breakfast Show. Their on-air chemistry and entertaining mockery is a hit with the Kiss 100 audience and making Broadcast’s Hot 100 radio talent list 2008, Rickie and Melvin are definitely stepping up the Breakfast show competition.
Early mornings are not new for Melvin and with several years as a staple for the CBBC audience Melvin added Swap Shop with Basil Brush on Saturday mornings at the start of 2008 alongside his days of playing various characters for the long running and BAFTA award winning Dick and Dom in the Bungalow. In fact, CBBC’s spin off show ‘Slammer’, which also won a BAFTA in 2007, would not have been complete without Melvin theatrical talents as a desperate inmate trying to escape.
Melvin studied media and drama at A-Level and gained a Media Performance and Radio degree from university, where he met comrade Rickie. He has not strayed far from his media roots and together Melvin and Rickie play an integral part in today’s young urban scene. Through their website Ment2Excel.com they promote roof raising events, talking points and projects.
Melvin has taught dance and drama to kids with behavioral issues and also worked at a community centre for young people in London.
A child actor, Melvin performed in a number of theatre productions and even gave speeches to governors for youth council.
