Kelli Young’s story is one of perseverance, strength and natural talent. A member of double platinum selling, uber-sexy pop band Liberty X until the group disbanded in 2007, Kelli stays an accomplished singer and songwriter.
It seems there are no ends to this young woman’s talents. A veteran of the ‘Weakest Link’ (BBC1), and various other Christmas and celebrity editions of ‘Mastermind’ (BBC1) and ‘Take It or Leave It’ (Challenge TV), Kelli is a keen sports woman and qualified dancer (tap, modern and ballet). In fact, she took on the ultimate challenge in 2007 for the BBC’s Saving Planet Earth season by running half a marathon with four other celebs including Jon Culshaw in Kenya.
In 2005 she delivered the Midlands’ verdict of Eurovision’s ‘Make Your Mind Up’ (BBC1) show and was always on hand with the rest of the band to wake the nation on ‘The Saturday Showdown’ (CiTV) and SM:TV Live (CiTV) and even had hosted ‘Class of 2002’ (VH1) - all whilst co-writing material for all three Liberty X albums!
Kelli’s career with the band has seen them blaze a trail with eight UK top ten hits, including one for Children in Need, and the release of three albums. The first album sold well over 600,000 and the second went gold, with both securing top 20 positions in the UK album charts.
Her passion for performing surfaced when she made the crucial decision to leave her Derby home at 16 to attend The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and within a year Kelli was appearing in the musical ‘Poison’, a TV series ‘Focus 200’ (BBC) and singing for the BAFTAs.
