The showcases included music from SBTRKT collaborator Jessie Ware, new US/UK hiphop crew 2Morrow’s Victory, and Southampton beatmaker Gang Colours.

Plus Gilles spoke to Canadian live jazz/hiphop trio Bad Bad Not Good, and found out more about the ever-consistent Soundway Records who are celebrating their 10th birthday this year! And if that wasn’t enough Gilles went in deep with US singer Jesse Boykins III, who talks about how he first met Bilal, and plans to work with Sinden, Gold Panda, Machinedrum and Hudson Mohawke in the coming 12 months. Busy dude!

Last night at Radio 1, Gilles Peterson was joined in the studio by Brazilian producer/singer/songwriter Lucas Santtana and his band. In what was a first for Gilles, Lucas performed 3 tracks live on the show from the Radio 1 Live Lounge.

This week on BBC Radio 1,  Gilles Peterson played interviews with Jamie xx, Flying Lotus and Kode 9 recorded at last week’s Worldwide Festival in the south of France. Plus, in memory of Fonce Mizell who passed away over the weekend, Gilles dropped a few classic cuts from Donald Byrd and The Jackson 5, all produced by the Mizell brothers.

And if that wasn’t enough, up-and-coming LA rapper Def Sound was live in the studio, and Gilles dropped brand new music from James Blake, Jill Scott and a Jacques Greene remix of Radiohead. Big tings.

CJ dropped an A to Z of RnB Mix which ran through heaps of classics from Aaliyah to Dru Hill to TLC. There was also a chance to hear two big CJ’s Soundchecks, with Mike Hough and Cleo Sol both jumping on the mic for a double whammy of freestyles!
