Dion Dublin is an ex-professional footballer with a passion for music too. He regularly appears as a football pundit and manages a band - The Establishment.

Dion Dublin is one of England’s most loved footballers after being given legendary status at so many of his former clubs – from helping Cambridge move up the old fourth to the second division, to scoring on his Manchester United debut, to winning four England caps while at Coventry City to being the joint top scorer in the Premier League while at Aston Villa.

Since retiring from professional football in 2008 Dion has built a successful media career as a football pundit for the BBC, Sky and ESPN. He can currently be seen presenting Late Kick Off for BBC1 East and also be heard on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Aside from his love of football Dion is extremely passionate about his music. He has invented a unique musical instrument called The Dube – a percussion instrument which has been endorsed by Courtney Pine and has been used by bands such as Feeder and The Maccabees. He also manages a band, “The Establishment”, and is an accomplished Saxophonist. He has a particular interest in Jazz music and his Dube was recently seen at The London Jazz Festival.

The 606 team are taking on Radio 1 in a six-a-side for Sport Relief. Game on!

We may be raising money for Sport Relief, but more importantly the 606 team are looking to hand out some whoop-arse to Radio 1 as the two teams meet in a six-a-side challenge. Both teams have roped in some “help”.

For 606 there’s Steve Claridge, Perry Groves, Nick Hodgson from the Kaiser Chiefs and Ian Broudie from the Lightning Seeds.

Radio 1 are led by Comedy Dave Vitty and also feature Dominic Byrne (Chris Moyles Show) and Dion Dublin. The game’s on Tuesday 16th at 6pm in a secret location but we will stick all the video of the action up after the match (assuming 606 win) on our site and also Sport Relief’s.

Radio 1: be afraid, be very afraid.

For the first time ever, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show on the BBC took on the World Cup itself.

A tall order, but Gilles was man enough.

Nice simple format: for every team playing in South Africa, Gilles picked a song and mix it up with archive footage and contributions from actual footballers playing at the World Cup. A must listen!

Have a listen.

If you love your footy, you might like to see some sneaky pics from behind the scenes at 606...

As the footie season hits the tail end, 606 is still the biggest football phone in on radio. We thought you might like to get a sneaky look at what Jo and the team get up to before Spoony and Gabriele Marcotti broadcast to the nation every Sunday.

The pics are here or if you’d rather not spoil the magic, then listen to the show here.

And before you ask, yes, we’ll be on air during the World Cup as well (yes, even after England get knocked out).

Oh…and we’re on Twitter and Facebook.

The UK's biggest football debate show — every weekend on BBC Radio 5 Live

606 is Britain’s biggest football phone-in; we took it on in 2009 and we’re having a huge amount of fun making it.

It is presented by Alan Green (Saturdays, 1920 – 2030) and Spoony & Gabriele Marcotti (Sundays 1400 – 1730). Discussions range from the Premier League to the Blue Square Premier league; from brushing teeth at games to alien objects on the pitch. Some of which probably did come from outer space.

This season our guest presenters have included Robbie Savage, Darren Fletcher, Steve Claridge, Mark Chapman and Max Rushden.

Celebrity fans and season ticket holders also phone in with their opinions- including Ray Winstone, The Kaiser Chiefs, Kelly Jones, Judge Jules, and the Weasley twins from Harry Potter who oddly enough support Aston Villa and BIrmingham respectively.

How do we make it? We tend to work in a rolling squad formation, with two producers, an AP and a BA plus three phone-ops on duty for each show. Obviously there’s a few names that are always on the team sheet. Our pre-match preparation consists of watching every game we can on the Match of the Day feeds into television centre, shouting loudly at the telly while trying to keep across all the breaking football stories which will be up for discussion that evening. There’s also a lot of half time oranges, chocolate and tea consumed. No communal bath afterwards.
