Editor Jo Tongue says “Jason is a natural on the radio- he’s calm and collected but has a sharp tongue to cope with even the most demanding of callers. He’s a real asset to the show and will continue to improve as the season progresses.”

We won an unprecedented THREE awards at this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards

The week’s extraordinary award-related headlines keep coming!

Last night we took home an amazing three Sony Radio Academy Awards — the Oscars of the radio world. We’ll be coming back to earth sometime in July, but in the meantime Team SE team says “We are not worthy!” to our winners:

Rising Star Award: Robbie Savage

We salute Robbie’s 606 producer Jo Tongue and all the 606 team who have worked so closely with Robbie all season.

Best Specialist Music ShowJazz on 3

Nominated twice before this means a lot to us, especially as the presenter of the show is our very own founder Jez Nelson. Congrats to the whole team of Robert Abel, Joby Waldman, Peggy Sutton, Russell Finch, Paul Ruston and Becca Aitchison.

Music Personality Ronnie Wood

Ronnie and his producer Claire have created an incredible show — truly innovative in its texture and format. Team Somethin’ Else send massive congratulations to Claire Neal, Rob Poland, Sam Cocker and Ed de Lacy.

We would also like to thank those stations who have supported these shows: BBC Radio 5 live, Absolute Radio and BBC Radio 3.

There’s loads of coverage but some of our favourites are BBC News, The Guardian and Broadcast.

Those of us who work on the UK’s biggest football phone in eat, sleep and breath the beautiful game, so it was no surprise that last Saturday’s 606 was an emotional one. Robbie Savage / Roberto Savagio / Sav played his last ever professional game of football for Derby County before co-presenting the show with Mark Chapman on BBC 5 Live and as a consequence, there was a montage and, inevitably, tears.

Here’s a clip of the montage:

It’s all change at 606, our twice weekly footie phone in on Radio 5 live. From next season, Saturdays will be presented by Mark Chapman and Derby County player Robbie Savage. Long term 606 presenter Alan Green will move to Sundays. We’re really excited about the new line up and we’re ready for the World Cup with plenty of 606 action throughout the tournament.
