Radio 3's A4WM are the station's annual celebration of music - indigenous and fusion, pop, folk and classical - from all around the world. This year's ceremony was very special indeed: a 4 hour extravaganza at London's Barbican Centre featuring eight acts from, among other places, France, india, Ethiopia and Lebanon, all broadcast live on Radio 3.
The challenge BBC Audio & Music interactive set Somethin' Else Vision was a big one:The project in total ran across a month, and at its height - the awards show on May 27th - saw a 15 person crew responsible for what ended up as an 8 camera shoot. We feel that in may ways it's an archetypal Somethin' Else vision project: essentially TV output commissioned by a radio station and put out on that station's website; both a live project and an-demand one; a project bringing together all the department's in-house skills, from video editing to production management, music journalism to title animation.
