A weekly Radio 3 programme to showcase the best live jazz in the UK and beyond. Our brief is to trawl clubs and concert halls to find astonishing contemporary jazz and for our highly skilled recording crew to document the event from wherever it may be happening.

We broadcast an hour of specially recorded music in almost every programme, together with news, interviews and CD reviews, plus features that revisit the tradition or herald the future of the music.

Presented by Jez Nelson, a jazz broadcaster for over 15 years, Jazz on 3 regularly broadcasts from festivals too, managing to squeeze four or five live bands into our 90 minute slot. We also feature exclusive studio sessions and commission new works from both up-and-coming and established artists for broadcast on Radio 3.

The show is broadcast on Fridays between 11.30pm and 1am.
