Jazz Britannia

Jazz Britannia, BBC4, BBC2

Somethin’ Else has been producing jazz TV shows for many years – including many hours of live performance. Jazz Britannia consisted of 2 x two hour live shows broadcast from The Barbican in London.

The shows celebrated the rich legacy of jazz in the UK through concerts curated by Gilles Peterson and Courtney Pine.

These were complicated shows that were great fun to do. A total of around 150 musicians took part over the two nights and the music ranged from Stan Tracey playing his classic 60s tunes to Dizzee Rascal with Matthew Herbert and his big band!

The first concert was broadcast on Saturday February 12, 2006 between 9.30pm and 11.30pm on BBC 4.

The second concert was broadcast on Sunday February 13 between 9.05pm and 11.05pm on BBC 4.
