Somethin' Else teamed up with the British Medical Journal to pilot two podcasts to be made available to all their members, which comprises of doctors in the UK and around the world.

The BMJ wanted two fascinating and rigorous podcasts to reflect the qualities valued by readers of the BMJ paper and users of the BMJ online resources. We endeavored to add texture, pace and vitality and to strike a balance between information and entertainment.

The first programme, Talk Medicine, was a magazine format presented by Graham Easton. The 30 minute show was designed to be thought-provoking and to inform listeners in detail about the issues of the week. It had fiery opinion pieces, news, interviews, and feedback about research articles in the British Medical Journal itself.

The second podcast was a high profile interview with Sue MacGregor, stalwart of broadcasting, putting Sir Liam Donaldson, Chief Medical Officer of England, to the test. We invited doctors to submit questions, and with the current climate in the NHS, we got a huge response.

For us, the non-medically trained, we learned a lot.  We submerged ourselves in the issues that doctors really care about, and found that they're certainly not backward in coming forwards - which made for lively debate! It was a privilege to give voice to the medical world and to be able to reflect them across these podcasts.
