Asian Nation on the BBC Asian Network is a celebration of what it means to be a British Asian in 2007
This year sees the 60th anniversary of the partition of the India subcontinent in 1947, when India won its independence and Pakistan became a nation in its own right. We worked with the Asian Network to produce a special season of content on air and online to paint a picture of how that legacy has shaped the lives of British Asians.
This project was a truly cross-platform collaboration and saw us join forces with our sibling company All Out in Manchester - we did the web, they took care of the sound.
The website is entirely driven by user-generated content - inviting British Asians to tell the world about their life, roots and music. A continually evolving portal, Asian Nation online brings together a collection of pictures, videos and audio stories about British Asian identity today - told through the stories handed down from generation to generation.
From July 30 to August 17 a series of programmes on the Asian Network explore various aspects of Asian culture today. Offering in-depth analysis of issues surrounding identity, wealth, music, relationships, religion, career and the future, the shows provide a vital component to an important season of output.
