29/05/07 - Somethin' Else dazzle at the Awards for World Music

Somethin' Else provided Radio 3 with a treat for the eyes and ears for at Sunday's Awards for World Music - with live onstage visuals, a live video webcast, all the nomination films and an on-demand video highlights package.

The Awards took place at London's Barbican, and were extra-special this year since 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of the term 'World Music'. They celebrated this milestone by expanding to include with some World Music 'labs' over the weekend, before culminating in the 'Poll-Winners Concert' on Sunday 27th May.

The ceremony paid tribute some of the biggest names in World Music and featured live performances from the winners - such as Debashish Bhattacharya and Gotan Project.

The awards also grew by increasing their visibility online with a webcast and video on demand available after the event. We were given the responsibility for creating this content, as well as the nominee video packages to be played on-stage during the ceremony.

It was a massive undertaking but we managed to do justice to the quality of the ceremony, musicians and performances. Don't just take our word for it, check out the fruits of their labour at The BBC Radio 3 Website.
