Richard E. Grant launches the new Penguin Podcast to bring listeners closer to their favourite authors

Somethin’ Else are working with Penguin Random House, providing strategy and creating content to develop their audio business.

Part of the strategy is the launch of the new Penguin Podcast – Authors Notes.

Richard. E. Grant invites authors, comedians, musicians, historians, actors, philosophers, business leaders  and fellow actors to join him in conversation with five objects that inspired and shaped the writing of their latest book.

Kate Atkinson and Richard E Grant record the #PenguinPodcast

The objects act as a diving board for Richard to delve deep into the author’s world to fully understand the origins of their story, the experiences that influenced its development and the vision for translating the story into an audiobook, excerpts of which are heard throughout the episode.

Richard E. Grant said: “Each episode of The Penguin Podcast is brilliantly unique – shaped by the objects our authors choose to illustrate the creative process. This format brings the physical and imagined worlds together and, for listeners, it cracks open a window into the studio and the inner workings of our guests’ minds.”

Richard’s interviews with comedian Bridget Christie will air on Wednesday 5th August; with novelist Pat Barker onWednesday 26th August; Meera Syal, author of The House of Hidden Mothers on Wednesday 16th September; and Paula Hawkins, author of the global phenomenon, The Girl on the Train, on Wednesday 7th October, with more authors – from global best-sellers to debut writers – to follow.
