Anita Anand presents Double Take every Sunday from 9:30am on BBC Radio 5 Live. The show is a second look at the big stories of the week exploring the truth behind the headlines. Anita also regularly covers the Saturday Live and Midweek shows on BBC Radio 4.
Until last year, Anita co-presented the award winning Drive with Peter Allen on BBC Radio 5 Live. During her time on Drive, Anita reported live from across the UK and abroad. Memorable OB’s include the inauguration of President Barack Obama and the first Mardi Gras after Hurricane Katrina. Her fluency in Hindi and Urdu has given her the inside track on South Asian politics and enabled her to obtain key interviews while travelling Pakistan to cover the 2008 elections.
Before joining Drive, Anita presented her own popular late night show on the network. The Anita Anand show has had everyone from Hans Blix to Mr T taking part!
On Television, Anita Anand has presented The Daily Politics Show with Andrew Neil on BBC2, The Heaven and Earth show on BBC1 and reported for This Week, also on BBC1. During Anita’s career she has interviewed 4 Presidents from South Asia, 8 Prime Ministers from the sub-continent, and 3 British Prime Ministers.
Before joining the BBC, Anita was the European Head of News and Current Affairs for Zee TV – an international satellite and cable television station. She was one of the youngest TV news editors in the country, taking over the reins at the age of just 25.
Writing has always been Anita’s passion, and she has been a columnist for the Guardian, as well as India Today and The Asian Age newspaper.
Anita is also an experienced chair and has presided over high profile events at the Cheltenham literary festival, the Royal Society of Medicine, The London Assembly and The Lions Club.
