New Public Art project

Artist Andrew Shoben is working with Somethin’ Else to explore an intriguing idea to rotate and retire Public Art.

The Italians weren’t afraid of moving their public art around, or retiring it and replacing it with something else. Donatello’s Judith and Holofernes was moved around Florence three times between 1455 and 1505, before it was replaced with Michaelangelo’s David. Andrew Shoben has created public artworks for several UK cities, including the robotic bust near the Tate Modern. He sets out to examine the arguments around moving more of our public artworks.

What do you think about Public Art? Which art works would you add?

Bad?

Swept away?
