We’ve recorded guitarist John Scofield many times and in many guises over the years, tonight we dig out an archive track from the fifth ever Jazz on 3 back in 1998. Sco plays funk grooves to the audience at Bath Festival with a quartet not too dissimilar to the one featured in tonight’s main concert at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. Talking to Jez before the concert he explains why on this occasion, he chose to play straight-up tunes and standards.
