Guitarist Billy Jenkins, the funniest man in free improv meets the funniest fan of free improv, comedian Stewart Lee for a chat about humour and the avant-garde. The pair met in Billy’s garden shed, home to his records and instruments to talk about Billy’s unlikely career. He’s played free jazz on the same bill as French and Sanders, describes Muddy Waters as ironic and has a surprisingly inspirational fascination with his suburban patch of South East London.
Plus Billy is in session with music from his latest album ‘I Am A Man From Lewisham’ a high energy, intensive work out on the blues and to mark the re-opening of Copenhagen’s most infamous jazz club the Montmartre we’ve a selection of Danish jazz on CD.
