Dubbed “The Fresh Prince Of Hackney” Kojo is fast becoming one of the biggest talents to come out of the black comedy circuit.
He has performed on The 5 O’ Clock show on Channel 4 and also on Stephen K Amos’ recent BBC2 series acting within various comedy sketches. Last year, the second series of his own show, Kojo’s Comedy Funhouse, aired on MTV and MTV Base.
In April 2011, Kojo began presenting the weekday Breakfast Show on Choice FM every day from 6am-9am. Kojo started on the Saturday Breakfast Show on Choice and was very quickly moved on to the station’s flagship show.
In 2000 Kojo signed up and joined “The Comedy School” which was set-up by fellow comedian Rudi Lickwood and Keith Palmer. There he learnt to perfect the art of performance on stage and the different sides of comedy. After spending two months on the course he performed at his first ever show, which was at Middlesex University on April 12th 2000 where he brought the house down and was an instant hit with the crowd.
In the summer of 2005, Kojo was recruited by the CBBC channel where he co – presented a kids show alongside presenter Reggie Yates called ” The Mighty Truck Of Stuff ” on Saturday afternoons.
Kojo is now a firm favorite on MTV and MTV Base with all his comedy shows. He has appeared on MTV Base with the Fresh Prince of Hackney, The Young Gods Of Comedy and now Kojo’s Comedy Funhouse. He is also apart of the MTV presenting team who interviews some of the top artist in entertainment. Kojo worked on a show with controversial comedian Jim Davidson called ” So you think I’m an asshole” for Virgin 1. Kojo acts as a mentor in changing his views and out look on life and people.
He is much more than a comedian. He also runs his own entertainment company called Funny Bizz Entertainment, which includes Kojo’s Comedy Funhouse, Themed parties, Day trips and a young women’s workshop called Kojo’s Angels, which is now in its third season. Funny Bizz also produces shows for TV stations across the globe and the Black Tie Comedy Awards.
Kojo has performed all over the world, including countries such as America, Holland, Ghana and Nigeria, Germany just to name a few. Kojo is hands down the man behind the new energy and new look in the urban comedy scene.
Kojo has also performed with some huge names along the way. People like Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Eddie Griffin, Missy Elliot, Joe, Omarion, Marques Houston and to top it all off Kojo was a huge success in the Hit NBC show Last Comic Standing in America. Kojo was also asked to host the first ever Def Comedy Jam Tour with Music Mogul Russell Simmons who is also one of Kojo’s idols and mentors.
Kojo has sold out the hackney empire twice with solo shows and embarked on his first national tour in February 2009.
An engineered steady rise to fame includes a stint on digital radio station BBC 1Xtra, where Kojo made full use of his charm and wit to interview a host of celebrities.
Kojo has recently been working in some of the world famous comedy clubs in New York but is now back and based in London.
