Goldierocks is Sam Hall- international DJ, theatrical performer and TV/radio broadcaster. Sam spends her time invading festivals and after-parties all over the world. Always up for an adventure: she’s eclectic, passionate and a bit of a giggle.
Offstage Sam presents her weekly global radio show ‘The Selector’ (now broadcast in over 34 countries on FM radio to 4 million listeners & on NME Radio in UK). Recently described by The Sunday Times as “more irresistible as the best of John Peel… the country’s coolest radio show”. In 2012 Goldierocks will be heading to Cairo, Israel, Mexico and Brazil to promote the show.
Sam Hall is also the newest voice to BBC Radio 1 having covered for Dev several times this year.
2011 saw her on prime time TV as a team captain for ‘Pop Up Pop Quiz’ on Channel 4. PUPQ- a travelling pop trivia quiz show complete with inflatable set and guest stars. A wonderful example of Sam’s wit & likability and her playful, flirty character. This followed on from the popularity of her 2010 urban music series ‘Boom TV’ on 4Music/Kiss TV.
After the success of 2010, Sam was once again the presenter for Brits.co.uk as the official reporter for the Brit Awards 2011. Sam went behind the scenes interviewing the nominees & performing artists and got all the flirty gossip on the red carpet of the UK’s biggest music award ceremony.
Sam has stage dived, rocked out and propelled herself off various stages around the globe having DJ’d her unique blend of festival chic, bassy remix and wonky electro to thousands across five continents. Everywhere from Ibiza Rocks to Glastonbury’s East Dance Stage, inside the igloo disco of Snowbombing in Austria to the palm fringed shores of Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi Southern Africa; Australia’s Gold Coast to cowboy country, playing SXSW in Texas. Soviet bunker clubs in Kazkahstan to yachts in Monaco, The MTV European Music Video Awards and Shanghai Fashion Week. As well as exclusive private parties for the likes of Giorgio Armani, Madonna, Jade Jagger & Richard Branson plus warm up slots to Soulwax & DJ Mehdi. 2011 saw her perform to rammed stages at endless festivals including Creamfields, V, Leeds, Secret Garden Party, Bestival, Wakestock, Isle of Wight, T4 on The Beach, Glass Butter Beach, Latitude, Beach Break Live, O2 indigo, London Eye plus live dates in Albania, China, Africa, Monaco, Poland & Czech Republic.
Back in London, her established monthly self-titled club nigh is a fine example (in the word’s of MTV2/Channel 4’s Toby L) of Sam’s provocative sense of “style, finesse and foresight” having showcased the likes of The Noisettes, Mystery Jets, Crystal Fighters & Mr Hudson to name a few. Breaking new acts and carving out her name as a taste-maker and gaining industry wide respect.
In the studio Goldierocks works with Aaron Audio (son of Grammy award winning Trevor Horn) and Joyride to remix the likes of The Kooks, Natty & Foals as well as releasing regular free mixtapes.
Sam was born and raised in the leafy home counties before moving to the bright lights of London to complete a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts at the infamous creative hot bed: Goldsmiths College. While at university Sam slogged as a music journalist tour hopping and interviewing some of the biggest name bands in the world. A last minute backstage DJ warm up slot to the Chemical Brothers at Glasto, cemented the Goldierocks name and she hasn’t looked back since!
Sam also co-presented the first 3 series of punk-rock show ‘Red Bull Bedroom Jam’, hosted the pop editions of HMV ‘s ‘Next Big Thing’ and travelled the UK fronting ‘Xbox Reverb’ on Xbox Live. She also hosts a Friday late night specialist dance show ‘Selector After Dark’ on Mexico’s Ibero FM, China’s Loop FM & Warsaw’s Roxy FM.
